A Non-Depressing Educational Article About Plastic

All hope isn’t lost when it comes to our plastic problem

I know I don’t need to tell you how terrible plastic is for our planet. The topic comes up nearly every time global warming is mentioned, while depressing photos circle online of wildlife caught in plastic waste stab us directly in the heart. Still, like our dependence on fossil fuels, we can’t ignore the problem.

We need solutions, alternatives, and maybe even some luck to abandon the path we’re on in favor of one that will ensure current and future generations can live in harmony with Nature for, well, ever. That’s the goal, at least. So I want to share a few super cool discoveries that might become absolute lifesavers — not just for humanity, but possibly all living things.

Biodegradable Plastic

It’s a little ironic that items meant to be used once — wrappings, utensils, straws, cups, etc. — are designed and produced to last for hundreds of years. This means every piece of plastic you’ve touched or even seen is still here. If not in a landfill, then in our oceans or even in the air we breathe.

So, if we won’t ease our dependence on plastic, perhaps we can at least make it biodegradable and less harmful to the environment. This must include…
