Holy Moly! I did not know that! Thank you for sharing Esperanza, that's super interesting.

I'm sure our city life and technology doesn't help, but I wonder if that part of the brain became atrophied or if we just aren't taught how to use it well.

For instance, I have zero navigation abilities without GPS. I prefer "turn left or right" directions to "turn east or west."

However, my old college boyfriend who grew up in the woods on a Christmas tree farm and who was majoring and eventually got his degree in forestry sciences, was impressively attune. I swear you could drop him anywhere and he'd be able to orient himself with no problem and figure out which way to go. It was amazing, but he'd learned how to do it.
