The answer seems to be yes! Researchers have discovered all sorts of ways people experience thinking. Most types of thinking fall on various spectrums, and some don’t involve inner speech at all.
For instance, just as inner speech is a spectrum, with some people experiencing lots of chatter or none, or one voice or many, inner sight is also a spectrum ranging from people who can "see" really well in their minds on one end, and people who have no inner sight on the other. (I explain this one more in an article that will be published on Thursday so stay tuned if you're interested.)
There's also synesthesia which is when various senses sort of mix or blend together. Like how some people can taste colors, or numbers have colors and so on. There are hundreds of versions. (Here's an article I wrote about people who "see" subtitles when people talk: https://medium.com/irrelevant-matters/some-individuals-see-subtitles-irl-when-people-speak-5bb34659d6e6)
Anyway, I hope that helps. The human mind is truly incredible. Thank you for reading my work and commenting Philip, I appreciate you!
