Natural Laws Humans Should Learn if We Want to Survive Another Hundred Thousand Years

Rule Number 1: We aren’t all that and a bag of chips

I was thinking about how our species stopped viewing ourselves as part of nature and started seeing ourselves as above it somewhere along the line. I haven’t done any digging, but I’d guess this shift began when we learned how to manipulate the land to benefit us. By the industrial revolution, Westerners, especially, already saw themselves at the top of the food chain.

Our arrogance and violent tendencies served us well while we took over the world, but they also alienated us. We’re no longer living in harmony with the land, nor do we have strong connections with each other or wildlife… and it’s hurting us. Perhaps it’s time we set our egos aside and learn how to tune back in with nature and ourselves.

Humans + Nature = Beneficial Relationship

There’s a reason spending time in nature has such overwhelming practical and scientifically proven benefits for our physical and mental health. We all have something — a sense, a knowing — buried deep inside us, whispering of our disconnection from the natural world. The problem is, we’ve been too far removed to know how to fix it or where to even begin.
