Our immune system has received significant attention in the last few years, especially since the Pandemic. We wash our hands and take care of our hygiene, we eat healthy foods, exercise, and prioritize sleep to keep our immune system strong. Or, at least, we know we should.

Still, while we’re well aware of the importance of our immune system in a general sense, this system is more intricate and expansive than many of us may realize. In fact, researchers just discovered that our brains are “exquisitely sensitive” to perceived symptoms of sickness, not just within ourselves but in other people, too.

This vital system heals our wounds and helps us recover when we get sick, but it also works hard to prevent us from getting sick in the first place.
