We Know Our Minds Can Warm Our Bodies, but How?
We’ve all heard the stories, but can anyone do it?
The human mind contains a multitude of mysteries. I’m not talking about our brain — though that too holds its own fair share of secrets — I mean our mind. Whether it resides within our brain or not is up for debate, but the point is, our mind is credited with achieving phenomenal feats. Sometimes, ironically, even a little… inhuman.
I’m talking about claims of astral projection, telepathy, and tapping into systems of the body usually beyond the reach of the conscious mind — like controlling one’s body temperature. Regardless of where you stand regarding the first two, I’m sure you’ve seen or heard about the monks who can raise their body temperatures while meditating. How do they do it? And what can we learn from them?
Raising Body Temperatures Using Only the Mind
While we maintain a relatively regular body temperature of 98.6 degrees F (37 C), there are events that raise our temperatures above that. Our emotions, like anger, for example, can induce physical responses by flushing our faces as our heart rates rise.
