Why Are We Fighting Against Diversity?
Especially since diversity makes us stronger, smarter, and more creative
I used to be so proud to be an American. I loved the idea of being part of a country designed around diversity and a mixture of cultures — the rainbow of skin colors, the music of different languages, and the endless variety of mouth-watering cuisine.
Pride swelled my heart seeing mixed families made with two moms or two dads or even just one spectacular parent. Families with different skin, eyes, and hair colors. Interracial relationships, adopted kids, step and half-siblings. No matter what they look like, all I see is love united, and in my opinion, love shouldn’t be hindered by hatred.
The Crumbling Facade of the United States
This united version of the country still exists — fighting to be acknowledged and heard under the stomping boots of Hate and Fear. Fear of change and hatred toward anything different.
For centuries the U.S. touted its acceptance of diversity, even celebrated it. We still do. Especially when our immigrants win prestigious awards and athletic achievements. You know, like the fantastic 34 TeamUSA Olympians who were not born here, or that according to a 2019 report by National Foundation for American Policy,
